Against last year’s runners up this was a match to test our improvement from last season. A 54 point win showed that we will press the top sides this year. From the first bounce we controlled the game and our pressure on Beena when they had the ball was impressive. Beena came at us several times but we were able to Matty V was on fire with 7 goals. Brodie O was finally back on the field and getting a lot of the ball. Great to see Chris Tosen getting a lot of touches.

With several ‘cricketers missing’ during football season we had a team of 19 until a last minute clearance for Aaron Coffey (son of club legend Andrew Coffey) came through. In a tight game controlled by the strong southerly, Wazza boys held on to record their first win for the season. Benn Hall was outstanding in the ruck. Cooky wound back the clock with a sensational intercept on the half forward line and without breaking stride kicked it out on the full! Aaron Coffey’s debut was impressive. Highlight was no 52 from Beena who after being knocked to the ground did a ‘Kip Up manoeuvre (from lying flat on your back to standing in one move) in front of the ground stand!
